Sari Buying/Choosing Guide

Saree makes women look gorgeous. But like it applies to all clothing, one should buy sarees also on the basis of their personalities & occasion.

Choosing/Buying Saree according to Skin Complexion:

• Saree for Women with Fair or Light Complexion

White, off white, peach, light pink, yellow and bright colored sarees look good on women with fair or light skin tone.

• Saree for Women having Wheatish or dark complexion

Women with wheatish or dark skin tone, look good in orange & light colored sarees.

Choosing/Buying Saree according to body types

• Saree for Skinny women

 

  1. Light colors always add a bit weight which looks good on skinny women. So, skinny women look gorgeous in light colored sarees, especially white.
  2. Cotton Sarees look best on skinny women
     

• Saree for Slim & medium sized women

I don’t have any particular tips for Slim & medium sized women. I would say they should buy saree on the basis of their complexion & occasion. If you want to look slim, follow the tip I have mentioned below for Women with a little extra pounds.

• Saree for Women with a little extra pounds

 
  1. Women with little extra pounds should buy sarees in dark colors like red or black because these colors hide a bit of weight and make you look slim
  2. Georgette, silk & crepe saris gives slimmer look
     

• Saree for Short Women & girls
 
  1. Short women or women who want to look tall should always stay away from horizontal stripes.
  2. Vertical stripes add illusion on height, so sarees with vertical stripes are always good for you.
  3. Avoid sarees with big borders and always look for sarees with thin or no borders.

• Saree for Taller Women

There are some women, especially in the west who like to wear saree, but don’t want to look too long in sarees. If you are one of them and want to look shorter, do totally opposite to the tips that I have mentioned above for short women. Wear big border or horizontal stripes saree.
